Insecticide for Cereals

Planting spring or winter wheat? Control damaging pests—and boost your crop’s natural defenses—with an effective insecticide plan for cereals.

UAS offers a variety of low-cost, high-impact seed treatments tailored to specific cereal pests, including:

WIREWORM

Wireworms infect the plant below the surface, feeding on germinating seeds and young seedlings of cereal crops. They can cause wilting, stunted growth and death to young crops. If not controlled, heavy infestations can even lead to total destruction of individual wheat fields.

SIGNS OF WIREWORM:

  • Brown spot on the root/base of stem

  • Hollowed out seeds/dead seedlings

  • Wilted/discolored plants

  • Thin stands

HESSIAN FLY

Infests both winter and spring wheat. In their maggot/larvae stage, they feed on the lower stem tissue, damaging seedlings in the fall and overwintered plants in the spring. While multiple generations can cause damage throughout the growing season, even just a moderate infestation can result in significant yield loss.

SIGNS OF HESSIAN FLY:

  • Stunted or dead tillers

  • Thin stands

APHIDS

Cereal aphids suck the sap from plants, attacking the plant tissues as they feed. Aphids may also cause damage by injecting toxic salivary secretions while feeding. Whether winged or wingless, aphids can cause severe damage to your yields.

SIGNS OF CEREAL APHIDS:

  • Leaf stippling

  • Discoloration or striping

  • Wilting

  • Premature browning
