How to Calibrate Your Fully Automated AT500 Seed Treater Pump Stands

How to Calibrate Your Fully Automated AT500 Seed Treater Pump Stands

Before planting season begins, proper seed treater calibration is one of the most important steps you can take to ensure accurate seed treatment application rates, consistent coverage, and strong return on investment.

Here’s how to properly prepare and calibrate your AT500 before treating seed.

Pre-Season Seed Treatment Equipment Inspection

Before calibrating your seed treater, perform a full inspection of your seed treatment equipment:

  • Inspect pumps and pump stands

  • Check hoses, fittings, and strainers

  • Clean filters and screens

  • Verify scale accuracy

  • Inspect augers and metering systems

Cold weather storage can impact seals and flow rates. Always verify system integrity before starting seed treater calibration.

The AT500 fully automated seed treater allows operators to digitally manage ingredients, seed profiles, recipes, pump assignments, and calibration. Even with automation, physical pump calibration is essential.

1. Enter Ingredients

From the Navigation Bar on your digital touchscreen:

  • Press Ingredients

  • Tap New

Add your wet ingredients:

  • N-Compass F/I AZO → Application Type: Wet – Fluid Ounces → Save

  • SURPASS → Application Type: Wet – Fluid Ounces → Save

For dry ingredients like polymers or lubricants:

  • Enter product name (ex: Fludious Dry Powder)

  • Toggle to DRY – Ounces

  • Save

These ingredients will now be available for use in seed treatment recipes.

2. Create Seed Profiles

Accurate seed treatment calibration begins with accurate seed data.

From the Navigation Bar:

  • Select Seed Profiles

  • Tap blank → New

  • Enter variety name (ex: Pioneer 123XYZ – 2750 s/lb)

Input:

Seeds per unit

  • Soybeans: 140,000

  • Corn: 80,000

Seeds per pound

  • Example: 2,750

Press Save.

The AT500 can store up to 500 seed profiles, allowing you to quickly repeat consistent seed treatment runs.

3. Build a Seed Treatment Recipe

From the Navigation Bar:

  • Press Recipes

  • Tap blank → New

  • Name your recipe (ex: N-Compass F/I AZO + SURPASS)

Add ingredients:

  • Ingredient 1 → Select product → Enter rate (ex: 3.9 oz per cwt)

  • Ingredient 2 → Select SURPASS → Enter rate

If treating by seed count unit, toggle units and adjust rates accordingly.

Press Save.

4. Run Setup & Assign Pumps

From the Main Screen:

  • Tap Run Setup

  • Enter Customer

  • Select Seed Profile

  • Select Recipe

Tap Pump Assignment:

  • Pump 1 → Treatment

  • Pump 2 → Inoculant

Set target treating speeds:

  • Soybeans: 700–800 lbs/min

  • Corn: 500–600 lbs/min

In Device Settings, you can also configure start/stop delays (for example, a 15-second auger stop delay).

5. Calibrate Pump Stands

Proper pump calibration ensures your programmed seed treatment rate matches actual output.

  1. Go to Ingredient HOA and place pumps in Auto Mode.

  2. Navigate to Pump Calibration.

  3. Select Pump 1.

  4. Set a 60-second calibration run.

  5. Prime using “Hold to Jog.”

  6. Run calibration.

  7. Measure output collected.

  8. Enter the value into the system.

  9. Apply new ratio if prompted.

Repeat the process for Pump 2.

After calibration:

  • Switch valves to Process

  • Tap Prime to Atomizer

You’re now ready to treat seed with confidence.
