Meet the UAS Family: Dave Welsh

UAS

Meet Dave Welsh,

seed treatment specialist for Unified Ag Solutions. Dave hails from western Nebraska, and his main service area includes Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming and northern Kansas.

Here’s a little more about him…

How long have you been with UAS?

It will be two years on December 1, 2022.

What do you enjoy most about working at UAS?

The Nesbitts said before they hired me that they were family-oriented with a focus on customer service. I was pretty much sold on that.

What is your history in the ag industry?

Country Partners Coop in Kearney, NE—I was the location manager there for nearly 3 years, primarily treating soybeans, selling corn and selling cash-and-carry herbicides.

Following that I was hired by Aurora Cooperative as an agronomy salesman where I sold corn, soybeans, fertilizer and crop protection to about 4 counties in the area.

What do you enjoy most about the ag industry?

A couple of things… number 1, meeting new growers and helping them make sure that they understand that we are here to help them to improve their bottom line. Number 2, finding out what it is that they need to make treating seed easier for them.

Ballparking, how many treaters have you serviced in your career?

Primarily box to box treaters, but I would have to say 15-20.

What value do you, personally, bring to your customers?

I would say that I care about each individual that calls my number to inquire about seed treatment, treaters, biologicals, inoculant etc. But I don’t look at each call as “getting a sale.” I enjoy visiting on the phone and then setting up a time to meet in person for a lunch or just to chat.

How many miles are on your truck this year?

97,000+

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

Golf, fish, cook and be with my wife and kids.

Favorite meal?

Breakfast by far (but no pancakes).

Favorite drink?

A good bourbon to sip on.
