Introducing Anchor 3L ST Fungicide

Every season, UAS works hard with our suppliers to continuously improve our products—on both the equipment and chemistry fronts. This year, we’re thrilled to share a new seed treatment enhancement that we’ve patiently awaited for years.

For the first time, UAS now offers Anchor 3L ST fungicide.

Metalaxyl vs. Anchor 3L ST (Mefenoxam®)

Metalaxyl and Anchor™ 3L ST (Mefenoxam®) are both fungicides that disrupt the synthesis of nucleic acids. They target pathogens like pythium and phytophthora that can rot roots, stems and leaves, as well as downy mildews that can cause foliage blight and defoliate plants.

So what’s the difference between the two formulations?

METALAXYL

Metalaxyl is a mixture consisting of equal amounts of the “R” and “S” isomers. The R isomer is active in controlling plant diseases. The S one… not so much. In layman’s terms, it’s dead weight.

ANCHOR™ 3L ST (Mefenoxam®)

Anchor™ 3L ST (Mefenoxam®) contains primarily the R isomer. This makes Anchor™ 3L ST (Mefenoxam®) is a true liquid, with no extra useless components. That means you can use less fungicide to get the same effectiveness.

Other benefits of Anchor™ 3L ST (Mefenoxam®) include:

REDUCED USE RATE

Having an R-isomer majority means you can reduce the amount of Anchor™ 3L ST (Mefenoxam®) needed to control disease. This cuts the use rate in half—allowing you to treat more with less. It also gives you the ability to add more enhancements to the treatment—like extra polymers, inoculants or even another fungicide/insecticide.

NO CRYSTALLIZATION

With Metalaxyl, under extreme temperatures, the S isomer becomes unstable and crystalizes. This results in a coarse, grainy material within the seed treatment container—impacting the flowability of the treatment.

With Anchor™ 3L ST (Mefenoxam®), the R isomer is in the majority, so the likelihood of crystallization is significantly reduced.

IMPROVED SHELF LIFE

With no crystallization, the result is a longer shelf-life—with improved heat and cold product stability.

Anchor 3L ST Fungicide in UAS Seed Treatments

Another huge benefit of Anchor™ 3L ST? UAS can blend it directly into our treatments.

By combining it with additional fungicides, insecticides, biologicals and other active ingredients, the stickiness of the Anchor™ 3L ST is diminished—resulting in less bridging and better seed flowability.

Plus, it’s a systemic fungicide. Following seed germination, it moves primarily upward and outward within the plant, providing comprehensive protection for several weeks.

For dealers, it’s a huge selling point on the quality of the treatment you’re offering.

For growers, it’s an incredible opportunity to do more with less to protect your plant at their earliest stages of life.

Win-win.
